Many of us think that creation of Pakistan is an unfortunate event and a great united ‘Hindustan’ would have made a strong nation.

It was sad and disheartening to learn that the selection committee has ignored and decided to rest Rahul Dravid-the wall of India for his recent poor run of form against the arch rivals Pakistan. Judging a player from last few matches is total injustice. Rahul’s last tour of England showed his class and his calibre to handle any situation.

Just as India growth story is a long term story, so is the flow of foreign funds, crucially required for infrastructure development, which in turn is sine-qua-non for economic growth of the country.

Now a days we speak too much about banning child labour, about the growing life standards of people, about India, as a super power. We continue to project India as a nation, which has made tremendous progress in science, industry, and many other fields.

The recent triple blast in the capital, killing over 65 innocent people who were on a buying spree on Diwali eve, was an open challenge and an outrage to Indians’ tolerance. Earlier also, terrorists from across the border sneaked into the country and dared to attack the Parliament.

Since a couple of years, the proposed Bill on reservation for women is hanging fire. The UPA also thought that the number of seats in Parliament should be raised by 33% raising the strength to over 700.

For the first time Supreme Court has used such a harsh language against the temple of democracy and the gods enshrined therein. It is a shame on members’ part.

Sir, This refers to the news item, ‘SC-Centre debate on taint issue,’ published in The Hitavada on August 2, The argument of the Attorney General that it was the sole prerogative of the Prime Minister to choose his council of ministers and that the prerogative was not amenable to judicial scrutiny and further, that any probe in the matter will not be beneficial to Parliamentary democracy, is nothing less than exploiting the fair name of democracy for any wrong-doings.
