Leopard trapped in Chanda
Sep. 9th, 2008

CHANDRAPUR: SENSATION prevailed in village Bodra in the tehsil as a leopard entered into a cattle shed in bid to have a pray, but was prudently trapped by the house owner late into the night of Sunday. Later, forest personnel trapped the leopard into a cage the same night.

A 10 to 12 year-old female leopard entered into the cattle shed of Balkrishan Uike and attacked a sheep around midnight. Uike woke up to the noise of the cattle and reached the shed only to find a leopard attacking a goat. Uike immediately shut the door of the cattle-shed and informed forest authorities of South Bramhapuri Forest Range. RFO Walde reached the spot with his team and then began the rescue operation. Cages were summoned from Sindewahi and Talodhi Forest Range. As the cage from Sindewahi reached first, it was installed at the entrance of the shed and beast was herded in it. After toiling efforts of 2 hours at about 3 am the leopard was captured. The caged wild cat has been kept at Ekra rest house and will be released into jungle after feeding it amply. Large crowd gathered on the spot to watch the drama that continued for around 3 hours even during the late night hours.
