How can we cope with power-cuts during this festive season?

Rajesh Chawla (Businessman) The frequent and untimely power cuts in our city is a huge menace not only for the common people, but for businessmen and industrialists as well. It should be similar everywhere. As for the festive season, the power-supply companies should provide electricity in the evening, because it is the peak time for celebrations. Due to this, celebrations are suffering and also, with the use of generators, a lot of pollution is on the rise in Nagpur. Rahul Goswami (Operation Officer, Medicare TPA) During the festive season, peoples’ religious inclination is at a high and so by this untimely load-shedding schedule, there is a decline in the festive mood of the people. This is making people a bit antagonistic and repulsive. The government should undertake measures to shut down electricity in the morning and provide it in the evening hours, so that peoples’ celebrations do not suffer in any way. Kamla Chhallani (Homemaker) During the festive season, like the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi, people are bound to celebrate it with religious fervour. To add to the misery, frequent power cuts at odd hours, are dampening the celebration spirits. Apart from this, load-shedding in the evening is also affecting children’s studies. So power cuts in the morning hours can help solve both problems amicably. Mukesh Jibhe (Student, WITS Speaking Centre) The frequency of power cuts should be reduced and brought to a minimum so that there is no hindrance in the festive and religious spirit of people. There should be no irregularity in the hours of load-shedding, so people can celebrate the festivals with ease. Generally, it is the evening hours when jubilation is at a high, so power cuts, if necessary, should be during the morning hours, that will not affect the celebration mood in any way.
