Gone are the days when every instruction of higher authorities was followed with all sincerity and honesty at lower-level. The fresh example of violation of higher authorities’ instructions came to fore on Monday, when the directives of steering committee of elementary education to conduct a meeting at every Janshiksha Kendra-level was ignored at different centres.

The meeting was to be organised on April 6, 13 and 20 to discuss about policy matters, quality of education and status of distribution of text books in schools. Despite strict directives, a few Janshiksha Kendras did not call any meeting on Monday. When the team of Jila Shiksha Kendra, led by Dr Vinod Gupta, District Project Co-ordinator, Jila Saksharta Samiti, conducted surprise inspection in Janshiksha Kendras in Jabalpur urban, the members did not find any meeting at Government Narman Middle School and Government Middle School, Ganeshganj. The same scenario was witnessed at Kundam block on April 6, when the authorities did not find any representation from about 50 schools of twenty Janshiksha Kendra. “We have received report of 20 out of 30 Janshiksha Kendras at Kundam block where the meeting was to be conducted. The shocking fact was that 49 schools did not show any interest to call the meeting”, revealed Dr Gupta. “The shocked Jila Shiksha Kendra issued show cause notices to the schools administration with the instruction to give their reply within three days. Meanwhile, dissatisfied with the reply, the JSK recommended the concerned authorities to deduct one-day salary of the responsible persons”, he added.
